  • Looking for the next CPU breakthrough...

The folks at MIT have made some serious progress in the search for the replacement material for silicon in transistors.   One of the materials being discussed, according to this ZDNet article, is gallium arsenide, even though there are some kinks to be worked out. • A Critical View of "The Scientific Method"

While looking through some Wikipedia links concerning teachings about a Flat Earth, I came across the following website which expresses some criticism of the scientific method as it is often portrayed.  The site tries to emphasize that it is in no way opposed to science itself.  Here is an excerpt from the main page: Discussions of ...

  • Teen struck by lightning...

He's extremely lucky to be alive, although he probably doesn't feel like that right now.   Apparently, the storm was a bit closer than he first believed. It's interesting to see the disconnect between the headline of the second story and the last paragraph where they indicate that it was highly unlikely that the lightning was attracted ...

We just watched the launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery -- the first time a shuttle launch has occured on the 4th of July. http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/space/07/04/shuttle.launch/index.html   It was a wonderful sight to behold.   The kids really loved it. Here's to a successful mission and return.
