Our New Video Project

image Yesterday, my wife embarked on a bold new experiment:  She’s going to be hosting a monthly vegetarian cooking class called “Taste and See” which we will record to video and making available online.  The first episode was filmed at our church last night, and it went rather well.

Granted, the video for the first episode is cheesy (yeah, that’s my fault), and we had some audio interference, but the two chefs handled themselves well, and the food was awesome!!   In just under an hour, they had produced three dishes and a dessert.  All of the folks who attended were rather pleased, and they totally devoured the food.  Seriously, it was some good food.

By the time of the next episode, we should be a little bit more prepared, and have several issues straightened out, including camera placement and audio volume. I’m still very proud of the initial effort, and I am excited about the opportunity.  I’ll probably setup a blog for my wife to use on behalf of Taste and See, although in all likelihood, it will be my daughter that does all the posting. :)

This week, I have to edit the videos, and I’m playing around with different software to see which one will be best.  Our JVC Everio Camcorder came with some editing software (), but I’m not really liking it so far, and I haven’t yet found a good replacement.  Microsoft’s Live MovieMaker Beta is a little cumbersome for what I want to do.  So, the search is on to find a good video editing product that I can use that’s not going to cost an arm and a leg.  (Free would be good, but none of the free options has yet impressed me.)

Stay tuned, we’re going to have some fun and promote good healthy living at the same time!!   As soon as the video is available, I’ll post an announcement.  I’ve got to get 64 minutes down to about 20.  :)

On a side note, I finally got my wife to join Facebook (so she can effectively promote this new venture, of course), and she’s completely amazed at how many of our friends and acquaintances from over the years are on there, and how active everyone is.  I warned her, but she didn’t believe me.  :)
