More Professional Networking...

I recently came across another Professional Networking site called because of a question and answer session on .

Of course, I joined to see if it is worthy of any hype, and so far, I think it has many of the little things which people continue to clamor for on LinkedIn.  Each member has space for blogs and for an events calendar, as well as 25MB of space to store files and other items which can be shared.  They are definitely going for the one-stop-shop portal mindset.

Also, I saw quite a number of LinkedIn members there, especially from the OpenNetworking crowd.  Still, as I mentioned previously, I'm not going to be racing to invite all my LinkedIn contacts over to this network -- not yet.  Most people are simply not going to be active in two or three networks, and there is already significant competition from , and others.  I'd rather have one really strong networking hub that I was a part of, than being a member of 5-10 fairly weak ones, due to all of my contacts being dispersed.

Let's see what tomorrow brings.  Hopefully, the folks at LinkedIn will give us more of what we need, and not just more of the superficial...

Thanks for name checking us!

I will simply ask you a few questions.

On Linkedin can you to distribute business articles such as press releases, white papers or case studies?

On Linkedin can you promote events?

On Linkeding can you advertise your business in a global marketplace?

On Linkedin can you communicate with your group?

On Linkedin can you share files?

The answer is no.

On marzar you can. marzar should be seen as complimentary to Linkedin we have the same audience but provide a totally different service.

We will be enhancing the platform soon with some more useful feature and then we are into the build of marzar version 2.0.

I feel that we are much more agile than Linkedin and we plan to remain responsive to our members.

Thanks for following up, John

These are definitely areas where marzar is ahead of LinkedIn.  Still, there is the issue of getting ones contacts, some of which are still having trouble managing one social network, to take advantage of several such networks.

I'm keeping a keen eye on marzar, because whoever gets the feature-set done right, will get the bulk of the eyeballs.
