Needless Vendor Bashing -- by Vendors
In today's story of immense irony, we find a vendor taking time to bash another vendor for a security flaw, only to have diligent 3rd parties point out that the flaw exists for the bashing vendor as well.
What a waste of time. If folks would focus more on the issues they need to address, and less on showmanship and one-up-manship, they could avoid all of these little embarrassments.
One apparent drawback of every member a vendor's development team having his or her own personal blog, in addition to the corporate blog, is that far too much energy is being diverted to commentary that could otherwise be employed in remediation of security vulnerabilities or development of new, useful functionality.
Let's hope that this particular trend does not continue, because the consumer is not winning here...
